The Woman Who Does It All: Carol Palomino
International Fight Showdown, IFS, is a local promotion where amateur boxers and Muay Thai fighters can gain experience before going pro. Carol Palomino, who trains out of Team Oyama, fought for IFS. Her beginning as a martial artist was purely to help her son, but it ignited a fire in her, giving her drive and purpose, a goal to push toward. This multimedia project, in the form of video, photography, and writing, covers her background and training camp leading up to her boxing fight, and what she looks forward to next.
Dear Muay Thai...
Dear Muay Thai is a letter written by Diego Paez, ONE Championship pro Muay Thai fighter, and myself. Diego narrates his Muay Thai journey from the very beginning, explaining what the sport means to him, the people and opportunities it has brought him, the lessons he has learned, and how he continues to grow and give back to the sport he fell in love with.
Athletes push themselves to the limit, but it is all because they love what they do; they love the sport. Coming back to that core foundation was the inspiration for this video. This is a series that I am currently developing with more to come.
(Stay tuned for Dear Boxing on April 7th)
Battle Before The War
Francisco Sanchez is a true martial artist, he does it all; boxing, jiu-jitsu, judo, Muay Thai, wrestling. However, his start, where it all began, was boxing. In preparation for his MMA fight for Long Beach promotion Lights Out Xtreme Fighting, he was focused on boxing sparring. Each photo has a name, and is meant to capture the grit and preparation it takes to step into the cage.
Sparring: A Gangsta's Paradise
Chris Paez, brother of Diego Paez, is a professional Muay Thai fighter for local fight promotions. He came in on Wednesday night looking for technical, yet challenging sparring. This video is a compilation of highlights from his sparring, giving fans a glimpse of what to look forward to in his next fight.
The Darkness Before the Bright Lights
Moments before Francisco Sanchez steps into the cage as the first fight of the night for Lights Out Xtreme Fighting 27 in Long Beach, California, he warms up with Coach Bao Quach from Rounders MMA & Boxing, located in Santa Ana. Francisco won by TKO, a kick to the liver. These photos display the moments leading up to the win, the hands being wrapped, and the warm-up behind the well-earned victory.
